San Antonio Ski Hut - Full Moon, Spring 2004 : The San Antonio Ski Hut trail is a steep (2200’ elevation gain) 3-mile hike. On the way to the hut, there is the over 100 feet tall San Antonio Falls, a couple of streams and a few switchbacks. The trail is easy to follow and there are areas with steep drops to one side. During a full moon, the trail takes on an eerie ambience. However, the mountains views set in a background of stars look stunning.

Cucamonga Peak, Winter 2003 : This mountain hike was literally cool. Here we found streams, a number of switchbacks, caves, narrow and slippery areas, pine trees, forest destruction from the recent fires, and cool wind. All the way towards the top, I didn’t feel cold. It was after stopping for a while to have lunch, that I started feeling cold. Luckily, we were on our way down and I built up heat quickly.

Round Valley Trail, Winter 2004 : This hike began with a ride in the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway all the way up to the San Jacinto Wilderness. The exhilarating tram ride leaves a lasting impression and gives you a taste of what's to come. The snow covered trail traverses a 2.5 miles dense pine forest with short climbs, leveled in some areas, and ending at the awe-inspiring Round Valley.

Serrano Canyon, Spring 2004 : The Serrano Canyon Trail is a well-defined trail; easy to hike, that is densely wooded and offers inconceivably beautiful scenery. It has the charm of a Beatrix Potter watercolor landscape. There is a seasonal stream, rolling hills, mountain views, rock formations, an old power generator thingamajig, grasslands, torn to pieces aluminum shed, lots of birds and wildlife (even ticks!). There are plenty of things to photograph or just stop and admire on this trail. The natural beauty of this place as a whole and in its details is exquisite.
